A quick video on how to make Empanada dough from scratch. I also show you how to make the filling for a beef empanada. It's called Picadillo and is absolutely delicious. It's also used in Relleno De Papa as well as Alcapurria.
NOTE: In the video I said I used baking powder... Um, ooops! I meant Sugar :D
ITEMS:
Tortiilla/Empanada Press OR a Rolling Pin
Empanada Dough:
2 and 1/4 Cups of All Purpose Flour
1 and 1/2 Teaspoon of Salt
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
1 Stick of Salted Butter (cold and cubed)
1 Egg (scrambled)
1/3 Cup of Iced Water
1 Tablespoon of White Vinegar
Picadillo:
1 1/2 lbs of Ground Beef (I use 80/20)
Adobo (to taste - I add in about almost 1 Tablespoon)
2 Packets of Sazon (Culantro y Achiote)
6 Cloves of Garlic (Minced)
1 very Small Onion (Minced)
2 Tablespoons of Plain Tomato Sauce
2 Tablespoons of Goya Sofrito (Tomato based)
